Steampunk Mad Scientist Silver Clip-Ons

il_fullxfull.83328138

Just what every Mad Scientist needs for their blogging goggles. Or perhaps the  appropriate eye wear for a Sunday flight with friends in the dirigible.

Etsy maker Velvet Mechanism has some adorable steampunk accessories, which she assures us, are not radioactive. How often can you get an endoresment like that? I may have to get some nicer shirts just so I can wear her clock mechanism cufflinks.

Check out Allisons other websites here (http://www.velvetmechanism.com/) and here (http://www.velvetgarden.com)/.

David Flores Sneak Peak

Reblogged from Clutter Magazine:

David Flores has blogged a sneak peak at a new piece of vinyl being created by Kidrobot and licensed by Disney that looks distinctly like his unique take Thumper from Bambi. This seems to be taking all the design cues from the X-Large version of the Medicom Mickey Mouse Flores did using pretty muted tones. Also interesting that KR has got a Disney license…more to come from them perhaps?

Licensed by Disney? I have to get over my prejudice that Disney is either; 1) an impenetrable grumpy giant, or 2) fodder for gray market Asian knockoffs. I know I see examples over and over again, like the one above, but they still have not one me over. Maybe when the have a graffiti night at Disney World.

O-No Sushi

Imagine if Chris Burden had found inspiration in sushi. The performance artist with a knack for self mutilation might have ended up on a series of small plates. Try not to think about it. Instead, enjoy Andrew Bell’s humorous O-No Food Company Sushi toys.

Meet Uncle Frank

3780033464_5b5a78730f

This is uncle Frank. He’s not my uncle, he’s Barbara’s, but he greets me with a strong hand shake and a fake punch to the gut every time I see him. Frank is 97 years old in this photo. He gardens, takes care of his home, play’s first chair violin in a senior symphony and plays scrabble every evening with his wife Mary. The only medication he takes is a single baby aspirin every day.

Ask him what it is that works for him – okay, you don’t have to ask, he’ll tell you – and Frank will say this; “Everything in moderation. I enjoy a glass of red wine every day, you shouldn’t over eat, and don’t each much meat. I still have my wife, I’m not alone and she cooks for me. Pasta is a wonderful food. Pasta and vegetables.”

But Frank would rather talk about aviation – and he has some stories to tell.
