PSFK Visits Bespoke: The Handbuilt Bicycle Exhibition – PSFK

Opening today at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City is a new exhibition showcasing 21 hand-built bicycles from half a dozen American and International fabricators. The collection was curated by Michael Maharam (of Maharam textiles) who is a lifelong collector of one-of-a-kind bikes and Sacha White of Vanilla Bicycles. The exhibition includes examples of fixed-gear, road racing, cyclocross, mountain, and a custom tricycle for children. Alternative Needs Transportation from Holliston, MA produces some beautiful commuter bikes with integrated storage racks. Jeff Jones Custom Bicycles from Medford, OR is showing some example of their extreme mountain bikes that are engineering heavy but remain beautifully designed.
