Great idea!
The Swedish organization Media Evolution (which I work for) actually did a similar thing at a conference we arrange. Cartoonist made drawings of what was going on on stage and put them on the wall when they were finished: http://www.flickr.com/photos/47400163@N05/sets/...

Great idea! Something nicely “old media” about having a weekly cartoon :)
I think a crossword would be cool too – clues based on stories from the week's stories.
