About

Welcome to mediarosa, my personal website. Okay, it’s not that personal, so let me explain what’s going on here and introduce myself. I hope that we’ll get along too and that you may help contribute to this site and help to shape it.

First, a little about me. I live in Connecticut and work in New York city in marketing. I have an MFA in glass. Yes, you read that right, I started out as a glassblower. Then somewhere in the early 90’s I got my first computer and one thing led to another. I wish I could tell you I was extradited from my home country and have had to rely on feral nuns to get to this point, but no, It’s not that exciting of a story.

Flash forward. Now I am a Director of Creative Technology. What the hell is that? Sort of like a Creative Director but with an emphasis on technology. I am required to be knowledgable in; Social Networking, Social Media Marketing, Mobile, Games, GPS, RFID, Adobe Products, PHP, MySQL, Hardware, Software, Website API’s, Wireless Technologies, XML, KML, Laser Projection, Data Collection, Photography, Event Registration, Hacks of all sorts and more things that read like an SEO keyword list. Having to deal with all this shit does suit my personality though, because I love to make things but I despise collecting. So give me something to do then let me move on to the next thing.

That leads us back to mediarosa. What does mediarosa mean? I think it’s something I made up, correct me if you think otherwise. The obvious answer is the combination of media, as in modern communications, and rosa, or rose as a symbol of beauty. When we as humans can find beautiful ways to communicate visually, aurally, through action or by idea, we should celebrate. Mediarosa then, is where I do collect. This is where I collect and share things that I find interesting, curious, beautiful or provocative.
