But what grabbed my attention was the bit about scanning a barcode on a T-shirt to be able to read it.
Well, specifically, it’s not a barcode, but a QR code. QR codes are 2-dimensional binary matrices – or more simply, they’re squares divided up into lots of smaller squares, each of which is either black or white.

QR Codes, or Quick Response Codes are a type of barcode, typically scanned with a mobile phone camera.
The QR Reader uses your phones camera to scan the QR Code. Launch the application, point you phone’s camera at the code and the coded message with be displayed on your screen. Decoded of course.
